I'm Reine, a Computer Science graduate now pursuing a Master's degree with a focus on cybersecurity. My interest in technology started early — as a kid, I was the one always glued to a laptop, though back then it was purely for gaming. That early comfort with a screen and a keyboard stuck with me, and by the time I reached university, it had grown into genuine curiosity about how the systems behind those games and applications actually worked. That curiosity is what led me to choose Computer Science as my major.

My real introduction to programming came in my second year of university, through a course on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Building my first project with them was the moment things clicked — frontend development felt intuitive, and I found myself enjoying the process of turning an idea into something visual and functional. On the backend side, our coursework covered PHP, but I later taught myself Laravel on my own, drawn to how much more modern the framework felt and how much it shortened the path from concept to working feature. Since then, I've built several projects on my own, including a gaming community platform front-end, an Android pizza-ordering app with Firebase integration , and a full portfolio website with light/dark theming and responsive design. What I enjoy most about building software is the satisfaction of watching something come together piece by piece, and the problem-solving that happens along the way.

As I progressed through my degree, though, I realized something important about myself: I don't thrive spending all day writing code behind a screen. That didn't discourage me — it redirected me. Exposure to cybersecurity coursework, covering topics like web vulnerabilities, secure development practices, and threat modeling, showed me a side of tech that suited me far better: analytical, investigative, and hands-on in a different way. That's what drew me toward SOC analysis and cybersecurity more broadly — the idea of understanding systems well enough to spot where they break and defend them, rather than only building them from scratch.

No matter what I'm working on, my approach stays the same: I value neatness and clarity above almost everything else, and I need to understand the full scope of a project — what's being built, why, and what "done" looks like — before I can do my best work. I also make a point of staying aware of what my teammates are working on, because I believe coordinated effort produces far better outcomes than isolated work. Looking ahead, my goal is to fully transition into cybersecurity, building both the theoretical foundation and the hands-on skill needed to become a credible, professional SOC analyst — someone employers can trust to understand systems deeply and act on what they find with rigor
